Jambalaya and Cornbread is our featured evening dish for $13.99 and at lunch for $7.99. As part of our food quest to bring fun,and food  knowledge to Burlington we searched for where they thought the dish began. Traced back to the French quarter a Spainard arttempting to make paella and did not have saffron, substitued tomatoes and Jambalaya was born. The world Jambalaya festival is held each year in Gonzales, Louisana. This festival is from May 26 through the 28th, if you are heading toward Louisana on those dates. This week you can satisfy your taste by stopping by and seeing us. Remember we welcome comments and ideas for the blog as we hope to make this fun and interactive for all.
Big Muddy's is offering a new discount for our Military patrons and a chance to have a free meal drawn monthly is our new promotion. The Blog is new and while we have so many directions we would like to develop in the future, I believe that recognizing our milatary is so important. This Sunday, while traveling in Kansas City I was fortunate enough to meet a man that is a B-2 Stealth Bomber.   Super Dave  Spirit #43. He is orginally from  Lakewood, New York and now is stationed in  Whiteman AFB  Missouri. He is the 43rd pilot to fly a stealth Bomber. He is someone that we were honored to meet as he shared some pictures for us  for the blog.  His time in the service has taken him to many different locations and his courage for our country is to be commended. I will share a few other pictures as he did with us and hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I did.
Big Muddy's wants to honor Veterans not just one day, but every day by offering a new ten per cent discount with a milatary card. Register to win a free meal as we will be holding a monthly drawing to honor veterans throughout the year. For 30 years, Big Muddy's has opened it's doors to our customers and as a long standing business in the city we want to find even more ways to thank them. We created the blog as an extra tool to connect with our diners to see what they will want in the future from us. Feel free to comment and join us in discussions as we look forward to a bright future in the community.
The Lynsey  Next week we will help you travel back in time to an earlier Burlington with a sandwich created by the first woman to graduate the Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Paris. Her name was Helen Rowan and raised in Switzerland she found her way to Burlington Iowa by the way of the Starlight Room at PZAZZ. We are delighted to have Karen Krow cooking with us who remembered the sandwich and with the help of Robert Brockert also a Chef years ago at PZAZZ to re create the sandwich. Big Muddy's wanted to honor the first woman Chef for the beginning of our new Burlington Foodie blog and welcome comments or memories from the days when this sandwich was on the menu.
